Jade BladeContracting

Pipeline, Mining & Forestry Reclamation

Revegetation and erosion control for pipeline right-of-ways, mine sites and forestry disturbances across Western Canada and the Northwest Territories.

Reclamation seeding and erosion control

Getting disturbed land back to stable, growing cover

Resource projects leave exposed soil that has to be stabilized and revegetated. Jade Blade Contracting has done reclamation seeding since 2005, from pipeline naturalization to stockpile capping. We plan every job around the site’s soil, slope, access and the seed mix your reclamation plan calls for.

On slopes, ditches and erosion-prone ground we hydroseed with fibre mulch and tackifier so seed stays put through wind and rain. On flatter stretches that equipment can travel, drill seeding or broadcast and Brillion seeding can cover ground at a lower cost per acre. Many projects use both.

Where we work

Pipeline right-of-ways

Seeding and erosion control along right-of-ways, crossings and disturbed corridors after construction or cleanup, so the line naturalizes and soil stays in place.

Mine sites & stockpiles

Stabilizing topsoil and overburden stockpiles, slopes and disturbed areas to limit erosion and start vegetation, whether the site is active or in reclamation.

Forestry roads & cutblocks

Revegetating resource roads, landings, borrow pits and road-cut slopes to control sediment and support reclamation commitments.

Energy & infrastructure sites

Ground cover for facility sites, access roads and ditches once construction wraps up.

Our process

How a reclamation job runs

  1. Review the siteLocation, access, acreage, slope, soil condition and water source, plus your seed mix and any reclamation requirements.
  2. Choose the methodHydroseeding for slopes and erosion-prone ground. Drill or broadcast seeding where equipment can work the surface.
  3. Mobilize and applyWe schedule around your construction or cleanup timeline and seed in stages when the work is phased.
  4. Follow upWe check results and recommend next steps if any areas need a touch-up.

FAQ

Pipeline, Mining & Forestry questions

Can you apply the seed mix our reclamation plan specifies?

Yes. We apply the mix your reclamation plan, landowner or regulator specifies, including native blends. If you don’t have one yet, we can recommend a mix for your soil and end land use.

Do you work on remote sites?

Yes. Our crews travel across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. Tell us about access roads and water sources when you request a quote so we can plan the mobilization.

Is hydroseeding or drill seeding better for a right-of-way?

It depends on the ground. Hydroseeding holds on slopes, ditches and erosion-prone soil. Drill seeding gives strong seed-to-soil contact on flatter sections that equipment can travel. We often combine both on one project.

When can reclamation seeding be done?

Any time the ground is workable, from spring thaw through fall. We recommend timing based on your seed mix, site conditions and project schedule.
